NEFF DISHWASHER ERROR CODES
Understand Your Neff Dishwasher
The latest range of the popular German-made high-end Neff dishwashers are equipped with all sorts of smart wi-fi enabled features like different cleaning modes and an eco-cycle. The great thing is that these super dishwashers are also able to talk to you and tell you what the problem is if something goes wrong – all you have to do is learn the language!
Like most modern appliances Neff dishwashers have onboard sensors that detect malfunctions and safety risks, alerting you to these faults by displaying an error code on their dashboard.
Neff dishwasher error codes don’t definitively pin-point specific problems, but they are a valuable diagnostic aid that can be used as a guide to effect a fix – DIY or, in more serious cases, investigation by a qualified Neff dishwasher engineer.
Neff do not freely publish their error codes, which are reserved for qualified dishwasher repair engineers, but as a Neff dishwasher owner we thought you might find it useful to know the meaning behind some of the more common, generic Neff dishwasher error codes we have encountered.
Troubleshooting a Neff Dishwasher with Error Codes
E1 – Faulty Motor Controller
This Neff dishwasher error code indicates an electronic error – most likely a motor controller malfunction. This will require replacement of the power module by an expert engineer. Error codes E2 through to E5 are also associated with electronic errors which need professional attention.
E9 – Overheating
This error code shows that your Neff dishwasher is having temperature control problems. Overheating has caused a fault with the heating circuit, causing the machine to shut down. A repair engineer can locate and fix the fault.
E15 – A leak or water level problem.
Repair engineers are often called out in response to this Neff dishwasher error code, which typically points to an issue with the water level in the machine, or a leak into the base tray of the dishwasher which has activated the flood switch. If the flood switch (a float in the base of the machine which triggers a microswitch) is activated the pump will run continuously to drain the dishwasher, until the flood switch is deactivated and reset. This will take the intervention of a professional, who will be able to fix the switch, stop the pump and ascertain the reason for the flooding so it doesn’t re-occur.
E22 – Water in the Sump Pump
This Neff dishwasher error code is usually an alert to a blockage in the pump. It will display when there’s residual water remaining in the sump pump at the end or a cycle, and results from the pump and filters being gummed up with grease of a build up of food residue. In most cases the pump will be damaged and need to be replaced.
E24 – Drainage Issue
This code indicates that the machine is unable to complete draining water out of the cabinet. The cause is usually a damaged, kinked or obstructed drain hose. Check the outlet pipe and if all appears well you’ll have to have a repair engineer investigate further.
